Insurance Guidelines

SMV Super Speciality Hospital is empanelled with most of the reputed insurance providers. Cashless facility is subject to the conditions and terms outlined in your policy.

The hospital offers the cashless option through the Healthcare Insurance Providers listed on our panel. If your insurance provider is not currently empanelled with us, our dedicated team in Puducherry will completely assist you with the reimbursement process. It is our absolute aim to make your experience with us as smooth and pleasant as possible.

To ensure all our patients experience a seamless approval process, we work with a wide range of health insurance partners. This collaborative approach allows patients to gain a clear understanding of their specific coverage, eligibility criteria, and the exact quantum of coverage allowed.

Pre-Admission and Admission Requirements

In the case of a planned admission, you would have first consulted an SMV Super Speciality Hospital doctor, who in turn would have advised you on the probable date of hospitalization.

  • Timeline: You must apply for approval of the estimated hospital expenses directly through your Third-Party Administrator (TPA) at least 4–5 days prior to your date of hospitalization.
  • Assistance: Our specialized Insurance Help Desk located at our Puducherry campus will guide you step-by-step through the pre-authorization procedure.

During Discharge

During the discharge process, you will be required to:

  1. Settle any Financial Differences: Pay the remaining balance if your final hospital bill exceeds your designated insurance approval limit.

  2. Cover Non-Medical Expenses: Pay out-of-pocket for all non-medical exclusions, as standard health policies do not cover these items.

  3. Document Submission: Review and sign all medical documents—including laboratory reports, claim forms, the discharge summary, and the final bill—at the hospital desk before leaving.

Following these steps, SMV Super Speciality Hospital submits all necessary paperwork directly to the TPA. The TPA processes the final bill based on your eligibility and the actual cost, making the claim payment directly to the hospital. Any initial deposit paid by you at the time of admission will then be refunded, subject to applicable deductions.

What if the cost of treatment exceeds the initially approved sum?

Generally, the TPA approves an initial partial amount at admission. Once the hospital sends the final bill along with the official discharge summary and diagnostic reports at the end of your stay, the TPA evaluates and issues the final approval for the full eligible amount. If required during active treatment, our insurance desk will proactively request the TPA to increase the approved sum.

Emergency Hospitalization

In an emergency situation, our primary priority is to ensure the patient receives immediate clinical treatment without delay.

Our Puducherry Insurance Help Desk will take up your case on a priority fast-track basis with your TPA to secure approvals as quickly as possible during working hours.

  • Step 1: Present your health insurance card at the emergency desk and fill out the pre-authorization form.
  • Step 2: The TPA desk will fast-track your cashless approval. However, if you cannot wait for the clearance due to medical urgency, you can pay an initial deposit to begin treatment immediately and file for reimbursement later.
  • Step 3: While the standard processing time taken by TPAs for emergency cases is within 6 hours, this timeline depends entirely on your specific insurance company or TPA. Our desk will follow up consistently to track the status of your request
